I haven't seen any of the movies. But if I took every other nominee for Best Actor except Jamie Foxx, I'd be up money. Is he that much of a shoo-in?

Also, any other recommendations?

Jamie is NOT a lock. First time nominees for best actor on average never win. He has a better chance for the supporting actor category. Scorcese should win best director pushing Eastwood for director to a possible Best Actor winner. All the old timers are due this year. I have been following the Oscars for years and the most deserved actors usually never win when old timers are involved. I hope whoever bet Foxx wins, but he is no lock.

Eastwood as best director is a good pick if you had it early. :103631605

foxx is now up to -1485 at pinnacle.
by "game" time foxx might be -2000.

this is similar to last year when charlize theron won.
she opened up i think around -400 or so and ended up a huge fav.

Foxx wins with ease. No one else even makes it out of the gate.

Yep, Foxx easily gets Best Actor....Eastwood should nab Best Director.

Hey Royler, how bout best picture and director? I like Aviator and Scrocese in these category's. And thanks for the UFC action. Between you and a few other guys, I had 6 winners out of 6, and I don't know jack about the thing.

I have no idea about Best Director, but I'm thinking Picture will probably go to Million Dollar Baby. Not really thinking too much about it right now.

Not interested in playing favorites at any awards show...not when 3-1, 5-1, and 8-1 underdogs hit with regularity. Lazy handicapping, dude, though I hope you win.

I'm tempted by Virginia Madsen for Best Supporting at +300, but I'll stick with M$B as my only play of the night. If you're feeling really adventurous, look into John Williams winning Best Original Score for Harry Potter at +585. Best Sound Mixing should go to Ray at +150.

i wouldn't call it lazy.
i'd call it smart.
i did my research. checked out various critics picks.
9 out of 9 like swank, foxx, and freeman.
i've seen most of the nominees.
fwiw, all 9 liked Million dollar baby for best picture.
i probably will play 5 units on that as well.
watching aviator later today just to make sure.
director choice is a toss/up

will the best director winner also get best film? ]

in the past that seemed to be the way it always went, is that still the case.

Could best director win and then that picture lose???

thanks!

It's entirely possible Scorcese will get Best Director (for the more technically challenging job) and M$B will get Best Picture (for the arguably better movie).

On sports talk radio here in southern california there is a show that they every year put on this guy who predicts the oscars. He picks every catorgory and is usually about 85% correct. he only missed 4 tonight... he hit all the major catorgories including make up and costume..... next year Ill post what he says...
